Trading Shadows For Sunshine - my second book of poetry is finally here. Along the way NOBODY saw or read anything in the book until the ones that got shipped landed in their new homes this week - Not even Sarah read it, my mom proof-read the thing but nobody else touched anything from design to layout, editing, etc... With the first book Coma Therapy, I had a lot of friends read things and throw in their two cents before it went off to press - but things were different this time and the really private process was interesting. Like an intimate relationship between me and my work - so I'm really interested to know what everyone thinks of it when they've had some time to digest it.

As the cover art suggests, it's full of hard fought battles. Full of struggles - where the theme of Coma Therapy was retreat and sullen introspection - I've come to recognize that Trading Shadows is a straight up fucking brawl between my optimistic and inspired self (red) and my defeatist, broken, sick, depressed, diseased and deprived half (blue).......... Though the cover photo (by the brilliant Beau Roulette) suggests a pretty solid stomping of miss blue - I'm really not sure who wins - think it might be a tie. At least that's how I feel today.

If you have received the book and read it (at least once) please do me a huge favor and write a review of it, let me know what you thought, how it made you feel, which parts you liked best, etc - post them right here as a comment in this blog entry.

I really don't think any project I do could ever feel right if I wasn't made aware of its effect on you.

I'm going to continue adding TSFS related stuff to this blog entry so check back often.

Mailing Day from Jon Victorino on Vimeo.

        ..
for whatever reason Jon and I decided to webcast this most exciting event: it rivals the adrenaline pumping explosivity of watching grass grow! it's us putting some stamps on envelopes! we start calling out the names of people on the orders and calling them dicks - maybe we called you a dick? watch and find out - if you have absolutely nothing else going on. seriously. it's boring0

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. I didn't pre order, is it too late, can I still get it?

A. Well... it's too late to pre-order because the book is now out :) that being said yes, you can still get it, you can do that by clicking the button at the top of my profile or the one right here in this blog to get yours directly from me.

Q. I can't find your book at my local book store. WTF?
A. That's because Orchard City Books And Noise is just little ol' me. (with some help from my girl and my cousin) - I don't have distribution, the only way to buy my books is to order directly from me here on myspace or to buy it off amazon.com or, if my band The Limousines is playing a show, they'll be available in the merch booth. I don't have anything against distribution, just haven't come across any distro deals that make better sense than what I've got going on...

Q. I ordered a book from you yesterday man, where the fuck is it, I'm like, totally impatient n' shit
A. Take a nap. When you wake up, think about this - like I said above, I'm only one dude and I do the best I can to keep up with all the fires I set - I make it to the post office at least once a week - if that happens to be a monday and you ordered on a tuesday, unfortunately your order porbably won't be shipping out for 6 days, add to that the time it takes the USPS to bring it to ya... I do not provide confirmation numbers or anything like that. now, if you've waited ages and the thing hasn't arrived, let me know, we'll work something out.

Q. I work at a cool store, record store, book store, dildo shop of horrors...etc - I wanna sell your book there, sup wit dat?
A. Gnarly. Let's make a deal, chum! email: OrchardCityBooksAndNoise@gmail.com

Q. Are you going to do any book readings?

A. Yes. Nothing planned quite yet but I am planning to webcast them if and when they happen so you won't have to miss them if you aren't close enough to attend.

Q. Will there be an audiobook version of TSFS like there was with CT?
A. Yes. As soon as that's done I'll let you know.

DEC3: some of the orders ahve not gone out yet - I know you guys have waited forever and I promiese in the future I'll set things up better - but because I charge 5 bucks for shipping anywhere in the world I have ended up with some pretty crippling expenses for international orders. some of them are costing me up to 15 bucks to send to the craziest most far off places - on one hand I'm so excited to know my book is going to be read by someone so far away, on the other hand, every cent of profit from current and recent book orders is going straight to paying for all these internationals... You live and you learn! I will certainly have to start charging the right prices fro shipping from now on. So if your book has not shown up yet, give it a little more time. I'm also working on getting the book in Amazon.com soon.

audiobook is also started up, should be ready soonish...

I love you guys.
